Reviews / Making a Scene! – Danny Green – Let the Music Happen

By Dee Dee McNeil

Danny Green has released six albums, but this is the acclaimed pianist and composer’s first solo piano recording. His magnificent mastery of the piano is exemplified in the creative and original way he plays; for example, on the John Lennon/Paul McCartney tune, “A Day in the Life.”

This album was released to the public on October 23, 2026. It contains tunes by such great composers as Jerome Kern, Oscar Hammerstein, Jimmy Van Heusen, Johnny Burke and Stevie Wonder. I was pleasantly surprised by the wonderful way he plays Stevie’s smash hit song, “I Wish.” Bravo!

His album also features four original compositions by Green. “Blue Musings” is one. It opens this stunning new album by deeply diving into the “blues.” Danny Green has also written “Iao Valley,” interpreted in a very European classical way. Another original tune is “Gray Day in May” and to close the album, he plays “Walk at Dusk.” This final tune begins with deep bass chords that set the scene. Then comes the right-hand development of melody, to rise like a sun from the bowels of darkness. The pianist’s music is dramatic and full of light. StreamAlbums

Green’s virtuoso piano playing moves effortlessly between pop and jazz standards, always creating an arrangement that sparkles with uniqueness and warmth.

This album was recorded in just two days and rewards our ears with an intimate relationship between dazzling invention and jazzy improvisation. Every familiar song is refreshed and colored with Danny Green’s amazing abilities at the piano. It appears he has a spiritual gift that he channels from a higher power. It seems to inspire his fingertips, as he introduces each new melody for the universe to hear.
